With 30 years of experience helping people retire successfully, Richard has guided clients through every type of market condition imaginable – the booms, the crashes, and everything in between. Since 1995, he’s navigated countless legislative changes and regulatory shifts while keeping one thing constant: delivering strategies that actually work.
Richard’s recipe for client success is straightforward: combine smart strategies with optimal tax structures and sound, diversified investments – all aligned to meet your personal goals. It’s an approach that’s stood the test of time because it’s built on fundamentals, not fads.
Beyond advising clients, Richard is passionate about financial education. He regularly shares insights through articles, e-books, podcasts, seminars, and webinars, and is a sought-after speaker on financial wellness. He’s also served as an expert witness in financial advice-related legal proceedings and actively mentors the next generation of advisers, helping Professional Year candidates develop into qualified financial advisers.
Living and working in New York from 2011 to 2019 gave Richard firsthand experience of expat life and a deep understanding of the tax and financial complexities that come with leaving and returning to Australia – experience that directly benefits the expat clients he serves today.
Richard is married to Laurie Marsden, an accomplished psychotherapist and author. They have two adult children currently at university. Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with family, recreational cycling, and reading.
